Max’s paper describing the Zn(II) coordination chemistry, G-nucleotide-induced folding and extensive hydrogen-deuterium exchange-mass spectrometry (HDX-MS) of the bacterial COG0523 enzyme, Acinetobacter baumannii ZigA, is accepted today in Biophysical Journal. Dr Julius Campeciño joins the Giedroc group as a non-tenure track Assistant Research Scientist by way of his home country, the Philippines. Julius trained with Mike Maroney (UMass) and Eric Hegg (Michigan State) and brings his considerable expertise in bioinorganic chemistry to our group. A very warm welcome Julius!

Dr. Katie Edmonds has received unanimous support by the Department of Chemistry for her promotion to the rank of Associate Research Scientist! Her dossier will now be evaluated by the upper administration, with the promotion to become finalized next summer. Katie has been with the Giedroc Laboratory for 10 years now, the last three as Assistant Research Scientist. This promotion is in recognition of her considerable recent contributions to our laboratory. Congratulations Katie!!

The Capdevila, Giedroc and Dalia groups have published the first study on persulfide sensing and thiol persulfide profiling in the gut pathogen, Vibrio cholerae. A comprehensive sequence similarity network (SSN) analysis of arsenic repressor (ArsR) superfamily is also reported here, which will be very useful to others in the field. Congratulations to Daiana and members of her team (Cristian and Giuliano) for driving this work to completion.
