Yifan’s paper entitled “SifR is an Rrf2-family quinone sensor associated with catechol iron uptake in Streptococcus pneumoniae D39″ is accepted for publication as an Editor’s Pick in the Journal of Biological Chemistry and is now published.  Congratulations to Katie as well, and to Profs. Julia Martin (Idaho State University) and Malcolm Winkler (IU) who got Yifan started on this very cool story!

Our collaborative paper entitled “Zn regulated GTPase metalloprotein activator 1 modulates vertebrate zinc homeostasis” appears in Cell today!  This massive collaborative paper documents the very first zinc metallochaperone, ZNG1, which metalates methionine aminopeptidase-1 under conditions of cellular zinc deficiency.  Congratulations to Katie and Matthew who contributed stunning NMR and key biochemical data that collectively define the structural and thermodynamic underpinnings of Zn chaperone activity!
